September Saturday Summit

Last month at the September Saturday Summit, the College LAUNCH for Leadership 2023-2024 cohorts met for the first time, orienting themselves to the program and our shared mission. We’re excited to welcome 100 new Scholars to the College LAUNCH community and share a glimpse into our program.

During the Saturday Summit, Scholars created a handprint that showcased their personal values, 16 personalities type, leadership qualities they admire, a career path that interests them, and a social issue they are passionate about. We combined the handprints on a banner to symbolize our uniqueness as individual leaders and strength as a community.

We are so grateful for the College LAUNCH YLEB mentors who supported our program and led the new Scholars throughout the Saturday Summit. Learn more about each YLEB mentor on our Instagram highlight.

The 2023-2024 cohort of College LAUNCH for Leadership represents 58 different high schools in the Charlotte and Winston-Salem, North Carolina communities. The average GPA of these Scholars is 3.9, proving their dedication to preparing for their futures.

We introduced Scholars to their Youth Participatory Research Action project, and they were excited to talk about potential project topics. Soon, they will meet with their YPAR groups and identify organizations to partner with to complete their project.
