College LAUNCH for Leadership Program Alumni Spotlight
Leah Green, a graduating senior at Cox Mill High School, was a member of 2023-2024 College LAUNCH Cohort and serves as one of our Senior YLEB mentors. This fall, Leah will embark on an exciting new chapter at North Carolina Central University as a prestigious Cheatham-White Scholar, pursuing her passion for business with a concentration in marketing, all on a full ride.
Leah’s dedication to academics is evident through her induction into the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National Technical Honor Society. Balancing this with two jobs and a recent social media internship at Hundredfold Consulting showcases her exceptional drive and time management skills. Beyond academics and work, Leah is a true leader in her community. She proudly serves as president of her school’s Black Student Union and VP of Operations for her DECA chapter. Her involvement extends to being a debutante in a Cotillion, a member of the Black Political Caucus of Cabarrus County, and a Delta GEM. As Leah herself put it, “To sum it all up, I have no free time!”

Reflecting on her time as a LAUNCH scholar, Leah fondly remembers MEDucation Day not just for the content, but for the opportunity to capture the summit through her lens as a budding content creator for the LAUNCH Instagram. As a YLEB mentor, she cherished taking the reins on college readiness day, documenting every moment with her signature enthusiasm.
LAUNCH played a pivotal role in preparing Leah for her future. She gained invaluable insights into the college application process and various fields of study. Shadowing the Marketing Manager, Becca solidified her passion for marketing, and she learned the strategic advantage of applying early action. Impressively, an essay crafted during her LAUNCH experience became her personal statement. When faced with finalist interviews for full rides at both North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central, Leah leaned on the support of Program Manager, Mackenzie for crucial preparation. For Leah, College LAUNCH has been “an extra layer of support” in all her endeavors, providing interview and test prep, letters of recommendation, and a significant boost to her applications.
