Madison Hubbard attended a Saturday Summit in Charlotte as a participant of the College LAUNCH for Leadership program. During the Summit, students learned about professional courtesies, heard from a LAUNCH alumni panel, and worked on YPAR projects with their groups. Hear from Madison about her experience below.

Hello! My name is Madison Hubbard. Throughout my time in the College LAUNCH for Leadership Program, I have thoroughly enjoyed attending the monthly Saturday Summits. The Summits always leave me feeling more knowledgeable and overall more excited about college. The [College LAUNCH for Leadership] program has taught me a number of useful skills that will allow me to better navigate the college admissions process.

I am incredibly grateful to have received the opportunity to be a part of this organization. It has allowed me to explore issues that I am passionate about and gain a better understanding about what I have to look forward to in the future.

During the January Saturday Summit, we had the opportunity to hear from a panel of LAUNCH alumni from a number of different colleges who are current college freshmen. It was incredibly fulfilling to be able to gain first-hand insight into what the upcoming future holds and I left the conversation feeling a lot more grounded and prepared for what’s to come.

Out of everything that we did during the January Summit, the panel was definitely my favorite and I truly appreciated the honesty and advice from our panelists. Another part of the summit that I enjoyed was being able to begin working in our YPAR groups. It was extremely refreshing to be able to meet with a group of likeminded people who share a similar passion as me. I was very pleased with our level of teamwork and truly look forward to being able to explore the issue of higher education expenses with my group going forward!

Overall, I’ve truly gained a lot from my experience in the College LAUNCH for Leadership Program and I am so appreciative of everyone who has made this group and these opportunities possible.
