College LAUNCH September 2024 Saturday Summit
The 2024-2025 College LAUNCH year has begun. 55 Scholars in Winston-Salem and 60 Scholars in Charlotte joined us for their first Saturday Summit. This is the 10th anniversary of the College LAUNCH for Leadership Program and the largest cohort to date.
The summit started with an introduction to the program and icebreakers, allowing Scholars to get to know their cohort. Next, students created handprints that detailed their values, future goals, and personality types. The handprints were added to a banner which symbolizes how our student individuals come together as one LAUNCH community.
Later, the new Youth Leadership Executive Board led small groups in a social justice gallery walk activity. The groups examined art pieces that provoked discussion surrounding social justice topics. All Scholars have been assigned a YLEB mentor and professional staff mentor to guide them throughout the year. After a quick lunch break, Scholars and YLEB mentors participated in a college essay writing panel and wrapped up for the day.
